LOCALS - Joe Farey: Appalache Real (Snapped)

15 August 2013  |

In our weekly feature, we are getting out and about on the trails to meet everyday locals and find out a bit more about them and their bikes.

Locals

Tell us a little bit about yourselves?

Name: Joe Farey
Age: 22
Job: Carpenter

What bike did you ride?
Up until earlier today I had the pleasure of riding an Appalache Real

If you would like to talk us through how you had your bike set up?
Yeah I had pretty much a full Shimano Saint groupset, Rockshox Boxxer 2010 forks, Sunline bars and stems, Saint Hubs with Sun MTX rims runinng a very warn Maxxis Swamp thing on the front and a Minion on the rear... The Swamp Thing is so warn out it looks a bit like a High Roller haha!

Locals

Would you like to describe to us how you snapped your frame today?
I was riding the Double Black trail here at Revolution blind. I hit a gap that I didn't really know how big it was and I cased it big time. There was a loud bang so I checked out and it appeared fine. I rode the rest of the track with it feeling a little wobbly and when I hit another hip at the bottom of the track there was a 2nd even louder bang and both the linkage plates had snapped. Now I'm running a 45 degree head angle and the lowest bottom bracket possible.

What's your favourite part on your bike?
It was probably the frame.

What's the next upgrade you have planned for the bike?
I think I'll be getting intouch with someone about getting some new linkage plates!

What other bikes do you own?
I don't have any others so I don't really have a bike anymore! :(

Cheers Joe

We hope you get the bike sorted!
